The Fly

© Anne-Marie Brzezinski (2014)

A fly flew by
It had to die
On where it went
I kept my eye

It flew up high
It flew nearby
My deft attempts
It did defy

It flew the hall
Then had the gall
To fly inside
The shower stall

While on the wall
It seemed to call
I did not like
That fly at all!

The fly, you see,
It flew with glee
As if it tried
To torment me

I heard no plea
To be set free
Its death would come
With certainty

A fly flew by
It had to die
On where it went
I kept my eye.

Have you ever felt untitled?
...a thought that’s not complete
...a book without a cover
...a secret that’s discreet
...a painting non-descriptive
...an average with no mean
...an answer undiscovered
...a person who’s unseen

There’s more to life than meets the eye
There is so much that’s concealed
It’s difficult to find yourself
In a future unrevealed

So take each moment as it comes
Find a blessing every day
Embrace the good; learn from the bad
Cast your regrets far away

In time you’ll come to know yourself
As your view of life matures
You’ll feel like you’re a winner, yet
The title was always yours!

Mother, Dear

Mother, dear, the joy you felt
My birth, it filled your heart
Inspire those who seek the Truth
Their peace, it will not part

Mother, dear, the pain you felt
My death, it caused such grief
Console those in their time of need
Their hurt, bring it relief

Mother, dear, the hope they feel
For life, it doesn't end
Comfort those who hear my Word
Their souls, I will attend
